Determining your impact

Knowing your program or organization’s impact is important to funding agencies, decision makers, and other stakeholders. Monitoring and evaluating your progress and outcomes enables program managers to improve the delivery of services and achieve expected results. RJAE Consulting works with you to design and conduct evaluations that answer these questions (and more):

strategic planning

In a perfect world, every organization should have a well-thought out strategic plan. Organizations that take the time to think about where they are, where they want to be in 5-10-15 years, and how they want to get there, are more successful and sustainable than organizations who function without a plan. RJAE Consulting can facilitate the planning process with your stakeholders and develop a roadmap to guide your next steps and ensure your success.

PROGRAM DESIGN

Good programs do two things:  meet needs and make change. To meet the needs of the people you serve and empower them to change their lives, you need a well-designed program that includes a well-thought out  Theory of Change . Your Theory of Change can be depicted in a Logic Model, which acts as your roadmap and holds your program accountable. RJAE Consulting can facilitate the development process and help your organization create logic models based on your own theory of change. Many funders, at the very least, expect to see a well developed logic model in grant applications.

ASSESSING LEARNING

Did you ever wonder what your program participants learn? Do you ask if people’s attitudes, beliefs or behaviors have changed after experiencing your program or service? Dr. Martha Brown is an expert at developing assessments that align with national and state educational standards or with your program’s learning objectives. We use a variety of assessment types that best capture how and what your participants learn, including but not limited to pre-posttests, surveys, and rubrics.

CAPACITY BUILDING & TRAINING

There are many ways that people within an organization can learn to monitor implementation, collect and analyze data, and assess impact. RJAE Consulting provides the training and assistance you need to build your own internal capacity for evaluation. We help you embed “evaluative thinking” into every aspect of your organization.  

Survey Design and Analysis

Organizations commonly use surveys to learn about people’s experiences. However, many surveys are poorly constructed and don’t give you the information you want.  Additionally, some organizations do not have the skills or staff to effectively analyze a survey.  Survey design is a skill that takes practice. RJAE Consulting can design reliable survey instruments – both paper and online – that will tell you what you want to know. We can also assist with analyzing survey results so that you get the most out of the data you collect.

Literature Reviews

Most grantors, including the federal government, require a literature review in your application. Research and evaluation literature provides us with a wealth of information about methodologies, instruments, and past outcomes. By reviewing the literature, your initiative will stand on the shoulders of giants, and your funders will know you’ve done your homework. RJAE Consulting can conduct expert literature reviews for your applications and reports.

Needs Assessments

How do you know what your community, clients, or audiences need?  Have you asked your stakeholders and program recipients? If not, you could be wasting precious time and resources. Conducting a needs assessment allows you to discover and document your strengths and weaknesses, and to identify opportunities and threats to your growth and sustainability. RJAE Consulting can design and facilitate a needs analysis that will inform your strategic plan and program designs.
